Songs
of freedom, messages of love and inspiration, consciousness
towards the struggle against injustice, poverty, bigotry and
all forms of inequality – all these define the music of
Bob Marley. It has been more than two decades since this Reggae
Legend had passed away but his spirit lives on through his music.
His talent has come unsurpassed to this day. The Bob Marley
Day Festival is a tribute to Robert “Bob” Nesta
Marley, the “Reggae King of the World”. It is a
night to remember a charismatic being that has moved so many
individuals with his music. It is a celebration filled with
the soulful beat of reggae. |
The
8th Annual Bob Marley Day Festival 2003 entitled
“Rastaman Live Up: Reggae on Da Square” will
be on the 1st of March 2003,
a post celebration in commemoration of the 59th birthday of
Bob Marley on February 6th. The festivity runs through the whole
month of February until March coinciding with other celebrations
in different parts of the world namely USA, Amsterdam, Germany
and Marley’s native land, Jamaica. |

To relive the memory of Bob Marley and how his music has inspired
the people of the Third World.
- To unite artists and fervent supporters of reggae in fulfilling
a higher responsibility of evoking social and political consciousness.
- To recognize the power of music to break all barriers and
bring together people from all walks of life, of varying ideologies
and principles and share a night of camaraderie filled with
songs of freedom, redemption and love. |

The
Bob Marley Day Festival is the annual reggae music get-together
that hailed Cebu as the “Reggae Capital of the
Philippines.” Now on its 8th year celebration in the Philippines,
the Bob Marley Day Festival has indeed transcended from the
solemn, intimate gathering spearheaded by Jah People’s
Society, to an explosive merriment of music, culture and arts
carried on by Harambe Society, Inc.
For the last three years, Harambe Society, Inc. has successfully
endeavored to attract a large crowd for this tribute show and
has invited an immense following of bands, reggae enthusiasts
and supporters from all over the country.The last Bob Marley
Day Festival – “Positive Vibration – Bob Marley
Day Festival 2002 – saw the amazing participation of notable
reggae names in the music industry from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao
namely Tropical Depression and Hemp Republic from Manila, Diwata
from Bohol, Popong Landero at Anak Tribu from Davao and our
very own pool of Cebuano talents Jr. Kilat, Urbal, Herbs, among
others. Indeed, the Bob Marley Day Festival has earned a reputation
to be one of the much awaited event of the year for its spectacular
artist line-up and throng of supporters. |
